Manufacturing Facilities

Pentagon has three manufacturing plants which are used for both contract manufacture and own product processing. Equipped with stainless steel glass-lined reactors in a range of sizes, our fine chemicals plant facilities are capable of batch sizes from kilos up to commercial production. Our in-house capability reduces the need to rely on third parties to carry out scale up work.

Plant 1

Reactor Summary:
Stainless steel 316 and 304 ranging from 4 to 25 cubic metres. Reflux and distillation capability to 12 theoretical plates.

Temperature Range:
Hot oil, ambient to 250°C. Equipped with product coolers.

Pressure Range:
10 mBar to 6 Bar

Ancillary equipment:
Schenk filters, pressure filter/drier, heated bulk storage tanks to 100 cubic metres, drumming facility, solids charging, amine scrubber.

Plant 2

Reactor Summary:
DCS controlled, stainless steel 316L, 25 to 30 cubic metres.

Pentagon also operates a Wiped Film Evaporator (WFE) for distillation of heat sensitive materials.  The plant is constructed from 316L Stainless Steel and has a 2m² evaporator area with a 9.2m² condenser. The plant can be run at temperatures up to 300°C.

The project was initiated to supply low colour alkenyl succinic anhydrides but is also capable of distilling a range of other materials. The commercial plant is backed up by a lab scale WFE rig, to allow assessment of projects prior to scale up. The WFE will be used for toll manufacture work as well as Pentagon's own product ASAs.

Hot oil heating for ambient to 250°C. Equipped with product coolers.

Pressure Range:
10 mBar to 6 Bar

Ancillary equipment:
Schenk filters, heated bulk storage tanks to 170 cubic metres.

Plant 3

Reactor Summary:
DCS controlled, glass lined, 4 to 4.5 cubic metres with 18 plate glass lined column.

Temperature Range:
Glycol chilling circuit to -15°C. Steam heated to 160 degrees C.

Pressure Range:
40 mBar to 6 Bar

Ancillary equipment:
Pressure filter dries, bulk storage to 20 cubic metres, glycol chiller, scrubber.
